About

We all have stories we’re afraid to tell. Stories that may make us feel too vulnerable, make us worry how others will react, make us question whether we have the right to tell them. Sometimes these stories are secrets we’ve been asked to keep or secrets we’ve kept from ourselves. Sometimes they’re they stories beneath the stories we write, the ones we don’t go deep enough to uncover. The most difficult stories—the ones that most frighten us—are often those we most need to explore. In this workshop, you’ll learn: • how to be more comfortable writing about what frightens you, about the stories you’ve kept hidden • to discover the reasons you hold these stories and experiences so tightly—getting at the why you're afraid to write them so you can move on to the how to write them • about strategies that may help you get past your fears and let you step into your own power to tell your truth • what it means to give yourself permission not only to write but also share all of your stories • how to tell these stories with care for those who are part of your story • the self-care techniques that will allow you to write in a safe way, mindful of the self-care and self-compassion that’s necessary to prevent overwhelm or, in the case of trauma stories, retraumatization.
