Many write beautifully, thoughtfully, or powerfully, but still struggle to land their pieces in magazines. Why? Because writing for books, blogs, or personal journals isn’t the same as writing for readers who scroll, skim, and make snap decisions in the first few seconds. This 4-week course teaches you how to shape your writing specifically for magazines, digital or print. Whether you write essays, lifestyle pieces, opinion articles, or personal narratives, you’ll learn how to: • Connect quickly with a reader • Write powerful openings that editors love • Sharpen your voice without losing your depth • Understand magazine structure and pacing • Avoid the common traps that keep submissions from being accepted This is a working course: each week includes exercises, industry insight, supportive feedback, and prompts to help you develop one strong, ready-to-submit piece by the end of our time together. 4 Mondays, 60 min. each, Jan. 19–Feb. 9, 2026 5:30 PM PT, 7:30 PM CT, 8:30 PM ET.
