September Newsletter
September kept us busy learning and developing our skills in the creative spaces we love to occupy. We began the month with B.K. Jackson’s two-part series, Writing the Stories We’re Afraid to Tell, and Levi Alexander’s Outline and First Draft classes continued to put in the work and write the damn things.
Last night, we also finished the final session with Amy Ferris and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas in their From Dreaming to Streaming Course. In just three weeks, this cohort honed an idea from a simple logline into a full pitch with kickass characters, a living, breathing world, and a story that pulls the audience through the whole of the first season.
We have been so inspired by all of the people who rose to the challenge in each of these courses and created something new and real and raw for the world to witness. Keep writing, and keep dreaming.
To pull us into October, we have a new workshop miniseries from Amy Ferris starting next week, Tuesday, October 6th.
Lighting the Torch for Others is an ode to Gloria Steinem, who knew better than most that the best way to shine a light in the world is to encourage others to shine their own, too. Amy Ferris invites women writers to gather for two Tuesdays and dive into the depths of what it means to be fiercely loving, powerful, and generous. We wanted to thank everyone again for joining us for these courses that have required each person to show up authentically and courageously for themselves and their art. It's been such a joy to be in class with you all, hearing your bravery and vulnerability and absolute determination to share with the world the stories it most needs to hear.
Because, as we all know, the stories we surround ourselves with are the ones that lead the global consciousness. And though it is essential to our hearts and souls to exorcise the stories that we no longer need to hold on to, it is also necessary to bring back the balance. To write the light. To write the inspiring. To write the love back into the spine of the world.
We are inspired by you. We are grateful for you.
